Jóna Hlíf Halldórsdóttir, Hanna Hlíf Bjarnadóttir, Dögg Stefánsdóttir and Karen Dúa Kristjánsdóttir rent an art studio for artists and own galleriBOX in Akureyri, that the Art Center of Akureyri is in charge of. They have held many exhibitions, mainly with young artists, where their goal is to introduce young and promising artists. They have regularly been organising happenings of many kinds, sometimes connected with other festivals held in town, such as the Summer of Arts. They are in good connection with students of Akureyri School of Arts, which makes the students able to be more visible than before, in the arts social life in Listagil. Indeed it is good for all inhabitants in the town to have such powerful arts-life that the girls are offering.

GalleriBOX is a big studio, a living room and then a little exhibition space only the size of 2,4 x 2,4m, from which the gallery name is taken from. We have tried to introduce new and emerging artists for Akureyri. In openings we always serve drinks and vegetable food.
